 Sunflower Food & Spice Company, Ltd. is the home of sunflower seed & quality gourmet snacks — flavored Bagel Spread Mixes, Lucky Twist Gourmet Pretzels, Jack'snak and spectacular honey toasted nut products. Does this sound like Kansas to you? Well it does to the owners, staff, and customers of Sunflower Food & Spice Company. Using the ever-popular Kansas state flower as the company symbol, owners Mike Meier and Rudy Esquivel created Honey Toasted Sunflower Nuts, our first snack product, in 1994, and have never looked back.
Developed for the growing popularity of the bagel market, our flavored Bagel Spread Mixes followed our Honey Toasted Sunflower Nuts to market. These first mixes were so successful we continued introducing new flavors, firmly establishing our niche in the specialty food industry. Our customers range from small gift basket companies to large department stores, gourmet retailers and the food service industry.

Using the bright, familiar and easily recognizable sunflower as inspiration, we have created many outstanding products: Kansas grown Farmer's Popcorn Cob, Sunflower Seed Cookies, chocolate covered and candy coated sunflower nuts we call Sunny Seed Drops ® , Sunflower Seed Granola, and Sunflower Seed Vinaigrette. And, we owe it all to Kansas grown sunflower seeds! We enjoy trade relationships with England, Canada, Puerto Rico and China.
Our presence in the international market didn't go unnoticed. As a result, we were invited by Kansas Governor, Kathleen Sebelius to join her Kansas Trade Mission to China in October 2005. The purpose of the mission was to promote Kansas Business and Kansas Agriculture in China.
The 45-member delegation was present for the opening of the official Kansas Trade Office in Beijing; whose purpose is to be the eyes, ears and legs for Kansans wanting to conduct business in China. The contacts made, and the resulting relationships that developed, will be an advantage not only for Sunflower Food & Spice Company, but for all Kansas businesses and farmers for many years to come.
